The audition is done in 'workshop' style, meaning you will be given a combination to perform with the group.  You do not need to prepare a solo.  

For this audition, you also may be asked to do different styles of hip hop,  some 'tricks', breaking and/or popping.

PLEASE WEAR DANCE APPROPRIATE CLOTHES AND CLEAN SHOES

Please download an audition form (found below), fill it out and bring it with you to the audition.  If you have a dance resume and headshot, please bring with you as well.  

You will be given an audition number at the audition.

Travel Fees

ONE CHAMPIONSHIP

Dancers:  $3,775

 Family:  $2,775

Fee includes a dancers team jacket, IDO starter fees, entry fees, rehearsal, transportation to/from European airports to/from Hotel, hotel fee and air travel, plus choreographer and captain travel.

Fee does NOT include choreography/rehearsal fees and costumes.  These fees will go directly to choreographers.  Any discussion in this regard must be with choreographer.

Choreography/Costumes

Each formation will be $250/dancer/formation payable to the choreographer.  Costumes are extra set out by the choreographer. 

Any additional routines you wish to compete in (such as small group, duo, and/or solo) will be an additional to be discussed with and payable to the choreographer.  Any discussion about choreo/costume fees must be with choreographer.

**Parents/family, travel fee does not include admission into competition as that is set by the organizer closer to the championships

DUE TO THE BUSY COMPETITION SEASON IN ONTARIO AND DEREK LIVING IN NEW YORK, , WE WIL ACCEPT VIDEO AUDITIONS ONLY FOR THE 2024 ACROBATIC DANCE TEAM.

*If you can make it to Ontario for rehearsal, you can be a part of the East team.  Carpooling and dancer billet encouraged.

NEW:

The organizers will be holding the IDO World Acrobatic Dance Championship  in conjunction with theIDO World  Ballet, Jazz, and Modern/Contemporary Championships and the IDO Performing Arts Improvisation Cup at the same time/venue. Dancers may be a part of all or some teams but there will be separate choreography charges.  For Improv, dancers already attending may enter, we will not hav a separate team

GOLDEN TICKETS

We will also be scouting at competitions and some competitions are giving away Golden Tickets.  

VIDEO AUDITIONS

Please send min. 2 VIDEOS

1) The first video should be of you performing a recent routine.  We are looking for Acro + Dance ability.  If you have more than one video, you may send.

2)  Acro tricks video - please send a video of various 'tricks' that show balance, control, flexibility, and any tumbling.

3) If your acro video does not contain at least 50% dancing, please also send a video of you dancing either jazz or contemporary

Videos may be shared through any video sharing or a link sent.  

*IMPORANT  INFORMATION ABOUT DEREK PIQUETTE

Derek will be the Team Canada Dance choreographer for ONTARIO - Adult Jazz, All Ages of Modern/Contemporary, and All Ages of Acro.  

We will accept video auditions to idocanadaderekpiquette@gmail.com.  

All video audition information as stated above applies - except the email address. 

He is currently living in NY so video auditions only for his teams are currently planned.  

Choreography & Rehearsals will be coordinated for dancers on all teams in Ontario.  We will communicate on one TeamSnap once the team is established.

TO REGISTER:

To register, please use our registration form in the red banner above..  You will be asked to send the audition fee, Acro audition video(s), and a photo of the dancer to idocanadaderekpiquette@gmai.com

The headshot does not have to be professional or dance related.  This is for reference and can be simply taken with your phone.  If you are sending a photo of the dancer in a dance pose, please also include a regular pic of them smiling with their arms to their sides.

PAYMENT:

E-transfer with the dancer name/province/genre in the question line, and see the password Audition.

CHOREO/REHEARSALS:

Derek will be flying win from NY.  Tentative schedule to be released soon (beginning of August possibility)..  He will choreograph all ages Acro, all ages Modern/Contemporary, and Adult Jazz.  If you are interested by away at Nationals during that time, let us know. We will schedule choreography/rehearsals to coordinate with other Ontario Team Canada Dance teams for dancers and choreographers doing more than one team.

RESULTS:

Results may take a couple of weeks for a final decision. We  will notify EVERYONE whether they made the team or not by the registered email on file. Some  dancers may be asked to come for a second look.

The championships are separate events, however, they have been held consecutively in recent years.  Dancers usually compete in more than one genre, however, it is not mandatory.

Team Fees will be offered based on your stay and teams that you are a part of.  We  are currently waiting on more information from the organizer before we can make the packages.  We expect the information soon.

Fee will include:

• hotel (includes breakfast)
• scheduled shuttle to/from airport Poland
• ground transportation to/from hotel/venue in Kielce
• Commemorative T-shirt for dancer
• IDO participation fees
• admission for parent/supporter (if applicable)
• Team Canada admin fees
• Choreographer/coach travel 

Fees will not include:

• Flights - Team Canada will not be booking flights for the teams this year. We can assist if needed.
• Dancer entry fee for Improv Cup
• Choreography - This fee goes to the choreographers and rehearsal coaches must be paid in cash during choreography week.  
• Extra Groups - If you are selected for a small group, there is another choreography charge determined by the choreographer and must be paid in cash during the first 'extra group' rehearsal
• Solo/Duo - if you are selected for  these, extra choreography may apply if the routine is new or needs revamping 
• All routines are subject to additional costume charges which will be through the choreographer 
• Travel, health, and cancellation insurance.  
• Any local travel for rehearsals and Canadian airport, etc.  Dancers may be able to 'bunk' with a local dancer on the team if they need lodging.
• Meals and leisure in Kielce (except breakfast), but there will be at least one mixer included
• Any additional (optional) Teamwear that is available from our webstore
