HIP HOP, POPPING, & BATTLE TEAM

IN-PERSON AUDITIONS ARE NOW OVER.  THANK YOU TO ALL THE DANCERS THAT CAME OUT THIS YEAR!  RESULTS SHOULD BE SENT OUT SOON - EXPECT 1-2 WEEKS.

If auditioning for choreo teams AND freestyle/battle/solo, you need to register and attend BOTH the choreo audition suited  for your age AND the all-age battle  audition.  You need to pay only ONE audition fee.

IN-PERSON AUDITION

Please arrive at least 30-45 mins before the start of the audition to check in and pay your fee in cash.  If you registered, then we will have that information, however, you still need to check in. We expect a full audition to last approx. 2 hours each.

Auditions are workshop style, meaning that you will be taught a combination then asked to perform it in a smaller group.  You do not need to prepare anything in advance. 

 The Popping/Battle audition will be done in battle format so you will be asked to free-style to a variety of music.  This is a GREAT way to show off and/or improve your skills.  See bellow for more info.

Even if you aren't sure, give it a try!

AUDITION CASTING:

1. HIP HOP:  Choreographed hip hop duo, small group, and formation (large group)
2. HIP HOP: Freestyle soloists
3. POPPING: Freestyle popping soloists and choreographed duo*
4. BATTLE:  All-style freestyle soloists* and all-style freestyle battle crew* .**

*all-style battles include music where multiple street-styles are expected such as Hip Hop, Popping, Locking, House, Afro, etc*

**freestyle CREWS must be capable of learning choreography , as a routine showcasing multiple styles is required for prelim round

 This option is for those dancers who cannot attend the in-person auditions for a valid reason.  Video auditions  will be considered after in-person  -  in-person is preferred.

You will be given a link to a combination and must return the video within 48 hrs.   LINKS SENT OUT AFTER IN-PERSON AUDITION. - no specific time, can be from 2pm up to some time in the evening.

Please use  the audition registration system and select which genre,  Hip Hop and/or Popping/Battle Audition + Video option.

YOU WILL  RECEIVE AN EMAIL WITH FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS CLOSER TO THE IN-PERSON AUDITION

Fee will include:

• hotel (includes breakfast)
• IDO participation fees
• admission for parent/supporter (if applicable)
• Team Canada admin fees
• Choreographer/coach travel 

Fees will not include:

• Flights - Team Canada will not be booking flights for the teams this year. We can assist if needed.
• Choreography - This fee goes to the choreographers and rehearsal coaches must be paid in cash during choreography week.  
• Extra Groups/Solo/Duo - If you are selected for a small group, there is another choreography charge determined by the choreographer and must be paid in cash during the first 'extra group' rehearsal.  
• All routines are subject to additional costume charges which will be through the choreographer 
• Travel, health, and cancellation insurance.  
• Any local travel for rehearsals and Canadian airport, etc.  Dancers may be able to 'bunk' with a local dancer on the team if they need lodging.
• Meals and leisure in Skopje (except breakfast), but there will be at least one mixer included
