IN-PERSON AUDITION

Please arrive at least 30-45 mins before the start of the audition to check in and 

pay your fee $35 in cash. 

Auditions are workshop style, meaning that you will be taught a combination then asked to perform it in a smaller group.  You do not need to prepare anything in advance.  There will also be floor work & skills demonstrations

Please wear form-fitting dance-wear such as a leotard, bodysuit, or dance shorts.   For footwear, bare feet is ideal.  A foot thong is also acceptable. Hair should be pulled off the face, tied back, plait,  or in a low bun.

When you check in and pay your audition fee, you will be given a number

The Acro Championships are held at the same time as  Show. Dance so dancers may choose  to audition for both as rehearsal and  team travel will be held together.

Formation Children (9-12yrs)

Formation Junior (13-16 yrs)

Formation Adult (17 & over)

*All dancers will be a part of Formation which is a large group (8-24 dancers).  

From the chosen Formation dancers, we *may choose dancers for

• Small group.  We may only choose dancers for 1-3 small groups  per age 
• Duo.  We will only choose for 1-4  duos per age division
• Solo. We will only choose for 1-5 solo positions per age division

Please contact us immediately if you were awarded a Golden Ticket and are interested in the 2026 team

RESULTS

Results may be available up to 15 days after the first audition, however, the Acro faculty may choose  to defer ALL RESULTS. 

We  will notify EVERYONE whether they made the team or not by the registered email on file. Some  dancers may be asked to come for a second look.

In-person auditions are always preferred and chosen first as the choreographer would like to see you work in person and doing their choreography & if you cannot attend in-person

VIDEO AUDITION

1. fill out registration form, select area.  The link is above.
2. e-transfer your $45 fee
3. send video or video link. All formats accepted.  Video of a recent competition routine or film something with your phone.  Show us what you can do!  Skills are important but so is stage presence.  
4. send a headshot - it can just be a pic on your phone or any pic you have that shows at least from head to waist.  It doesn't have to be a dance pic.  School photos are fine.

6. e-transfers should have name/genre/province in question with the answer Audition

ACRO SKILLS REQUIRED TO DEMONSTRATE

Please include in your video the following skills.  If you are still learning a skill, you may *safely* show your progress to date.

• Front and Back Walkovers – both sides
• Elbow Balance
• Hand Balance & Hand Walks
• Side Aerial & Front Aerial
• Back Handspring Standing & Tumble Pass
• Head Spring, Neck Spring
• Jete’s, Russians, Tilt Jumps, Calypso/Firebird jumps
• Leg Grab/Y Stand, Needle, Scorpion

DANCE IS ALSO REQUIRED

As acro-dance is 50:50 dance:acro in equal parts, we must also have a video of a dance routine in jazz, modern/contemporary, lyrical, etc.  The dance video submitted may be the same one submitted for Show Dance.  If you are submitting an acro routine, be sure that it has at least half  of the routine dancing, not just tricks.

PLEASE INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING IN YOUR VIDEO AUDITION SUBMISSION

SHOW DANCE

As Show Dance is also taking place at the same time/venue as the Acro Championships, you may be a part of both teams if accepted, or only one.  Video auditions for Show Dance should include a dance routine  - we want to see performance ability as well as dance caliber.  Dance genre should be one of jazz, modern/contemporary, lyrical, and/or acro (if includes more than half of dance).  If you have a musical theatre routine you would like to submit in addition to the dance routine, you may.

TECHNIQUE REQUIREMENTS FOR DANCE
