ACROBATIC DANCE TEAM

*not a specific studio/choreographer team, we rent available space in the local areas.

 Please contact the TeamCanada Dance office, NOT the studio we use or the choreographers personally with any questions.

IN-PERSON AUDITION

Please arrive at least 45-60 mins before the start of the audition to check in and 

pay your fee in cash. 

Auditions are workshop style, meaning that you will be taught a combination then asked to perform it in a smaller group.  You do not need to prepare anything in advance. 

Please wear form-fitting dance-wear such as a leotard, bodysuit, or dance shorts.   For footwear, bare feet is ideal.  A foot thong is also acceptable. Hair should be pulled off the face, tied back, plait,  or in a low bun.

The Acro Championships are held at the same time as  Show. Dance so dancers may choose  to audition for both as rehearsal and  team travel will be held together.

CASTING CATEGORIES

Formation Children (9-12yrs)

Formation Junior (13-16 yrs)

Formation Adult (17 & over)

*All dancers will be a part of Formation which is a large group (8-24 dancers).  

From the chosen Formation dancers, we *may choose dancers for

• Small group.  We may only choose dancers for 1-2 small groups  per age 
• Duo.  We will only choose for 1-4  duos per age division
• Solo. We will only choose for 1-5 solo positions per age division

RESULTS

Results may be available up to 7 days after the first audition, however, the Acro faculty may choose  to defer ALL RESULTS  until MAY 1.

We  will notify EVERYONE whether they made the team or not by the registered email on file. Some  dancers may be asked to come for a second look.

In-person auditions are always preferred *IF OFFERED* and chosen first as the choreographer would like to see you work in person and doing their choreography - we will not consider any video auditions until after all in-person auditions have concluded

VIDEO AUDITION

1. fill out video audition registration.  The link is ABOVE & BELOW  - 
2. e-transfer your $30 fee
3. send video or video link. All formats accepted.  Video of a recent competition routine or film something with your phone.  Show us what you can do!  Great footwork is important but so is stage presence.  
4. send a headshot - it can just be a pic on your phone or any pic you have that shows at least from head to waist.  It doesn't have to be a dance pic.  This is a reference pic.
5. Questions, e-transfers, and video files to contact@teamcanadadance.ca
6. e-transfers should have name/genre/province in question with the answer Audition

TECHNIQUE REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBMISSION

You may submit your current solo if you have one.  If you do not have a solo, please submit a recent video performance of a duo/group and CLEARLY mark which dancer is to be evaluated in the notes below.  In addition, we would like to see these qualities in your dance performance or a separate video showing certain techniques.  Submit to the best of your availability

**PRICES AVAILABLE AFTER AUDITION

Expect approx $3,700 per dancer plus choreo, costume, rehearsal...and approx. $2500 for supporters.
