Although we won't be doing auditions for an Ontario team this year, those of you that won GOLD in any solo, duo, small group or formation - are able to return to Poland to defend you title as per IDO rules!  Those of you that won a GOLD have earned Canada the opportunity to take you in addition to our West teams!  This is very exciting news!

If you are interested in representing Canada once again on this GOLD WINNING TEAM, please let us know as soon as possible and start fundraising!  For more information, email bonnie@cdo-online.org

Rules for Defending Titles

As per IDO, the rules for defending titles are as follows:

Defending Champion

  1. A soloist who wins a World Championship title is entitled to defend that championship title, in the same discipline, the following year. If their age range changes they may defend the title in the next higher age division.
  2. A duo or couple who wins a World Championship title is entitled to defend that championship title, in the same discipline the following year. If one or more of the duo’s age range changes, they may defend the title in the next higher age range.
  3. In the case of groups and formations, it is the team name that defends the title. The dancers in the group and formation may change but they must all be within the rule regarding age. A group or formation cannot advance to the next age level when defending a championship title.
